Bited depicts an apple bitten once and then abandoned. A single bite is enough to make the whole fruit unwanted: desire takes what it needs for an instant and leaves the rest behind. The missing portion therefore becomes an image of careless consumption and everyday food waste.
Made from a decommissioned traffic sign, the sculpture carries this act of rejection into its material. Something discarded becomes the image of something else discarded. Layers of pigment and translucent resin create the illusion of skin and exposed flesh, while copper tubing replaces the natural stem with an unmistakably industrial element.
