Moldy Lemon presents a lemon cut open and overtaken by spreading mould. The ordered geometry of its segments remains visible, but dark organic colonies interrupt the fruit’s bright yellow surface and gradually become a second composition within it.
The work examines decay as a process of transformation rather than a final condition. A decommissioned traffic sign forms the body of the sculpture, while layers of pigment and translucent resin recreate the lemon’s flesh, moisture and fungal growth. Seen from a distance, the image remains vivid and decorative; viewed closely, its apparent freshness collapses.
