Octopus Lighting is a site-specific sculptural lighting project created for a private apartment in La Caletta, Sardinia.

The installation brings together two functional sculptures: a suspended octopus extending across the kitchen and a vertical floor lamp positioned in the adjoining living area. Both works were assembled from reclaimed wood, copper pipes, discarded household objects, metal components and repurposed lighting elements.

The suspended sculpture transforms a reclaimed wooden structure into the body of an octopus. Copper pipes form its tentacles, while an old copper jug and discarded thermometers shape its head. Light sources positioned along the structure illuminate the room while projecting an enlarged silhouette of the creature across the surrounding walls.

The vertical lamp combines weathered chestnut wood with fragments of plastic, metal mesh and domestic objects. Its illuminated openings reveal the irregular surface of the material and give the sculpture a second presence after dark.

Rather than concealing their previous functions, Scoobafish preserves oxidation, scratches and wear as visible parts of both works. Light completes the transformation, turning the recovered materials into functional sculpture and extending their forms through reflection and shadow.

COMMISSION A SCULPTURAL LIGHTING WORK
Octopus Lighting was conceived in response to the dimensions, functions and visual character of a private interior.
New commissions are developed in dialogue with private clients, architects and interior designers. Each project is designed specifically for its location and may combine reclaimed materials, functional lighting, suspended structures and sculptural elements.
Scale, materials, lighting requirements, installation, timing and budget are defined individually for every project.
