Pomegranate reveals the interior of a fruit traditionally associated with abundance and fertility. Its densely packed seeds still suggest richness and vitality, but holes, stains and bruised areas disturb that familiar symbolism and introduce the first evidence of deterioration.
The sculpture brings together two forms of abandonment observed by Scoobafish: overripe pomegranates left on the tree and a discarded traffic sign being reclaimed by vegetation. The sign becomes the body of the fruit, while pigment and translucent resin reconstruct its flesh and seeds. Folded copper forms the crown, preserving the pomegranate’s distinctive profile while exposing the industrial construction of the work.
