Every Sign Has a Story Before Becoming a Pixel
The Urban Pixel Archive is a growing collection of decommissioned road signs recovered over years from roads, public depots and discarded infrastructure across Sardinia.
Each sign is individually photographed, catalogued and preserved before being considered for future installations.
Rather than anonymous raw materials, these objects retain their identities, histories and physical memories. Scratches, dents, corrosion, faded colours and missing fragments are never treated as defects, but as evidence of previous lives.
Every newly recovered sign expands the visual vocabulary of Urban Pixel and increases the possibilities for future works. Each catalogue card is both documentation and the biography of an object before its potential transformation.

Every recovered road sign adds a new colour, form, surface and history to the project. Some will enter future installations; others will remain preserved as autonomous records of the public landscape from which they came.
