Underwater is a site-specific mural and sculptural installation commissioned for a private sea-view residence in Budoni, Sardinia.

A painted marine environment extends across the dining-room wall, inhabited by two three-dimensional seahorses assembled from driftwood, reclaimed plastics, corroded metal, wire and discarded objects. Integrated lighting gives one of the figures a luminous presence, while painted coral and underwater vegetation connect the sculptural elements across the architecture.

The materials retain scratches, oxidation, irregular surfaces and traces of their previous functions. Rather than concealing their histories, Scoobafish uses them to give each figure a distinct physical character.

The polished marble table reflects the entire composition, extending the marine scene beyond the wall and into the room. Painting, sculpture, light and reflection combine to create an immersive environment in which the domestic interior appears momentarily submerged.
