Watermelon brings together two states of the same fruit: the intact green exterior and a slice that has been separated to reveal its red flesh. Presented simultaneously, the whoWatermelonle fruit and the cut portion transform an ordinary act of preparation into a layered sculptural composition.
The projecting slice introduces physical depth and marks the moment when the fruit becomes available for consumption. Decommissioned traffic signs form both elements, while pigments and translucent resin recreate the contrasting surfaces of rind, flesh and seeds. The visible fastenings and folded metal edges prevent the illusion from becoming complete, preserving the industrial identity of the material.
