Woman in Gold reinterprets the visual language of Gustav Klimt’s Golden Period through discarded domestic objects, plastics, metal fragments, can lids and reclaimed materials.
Rather than reproducing the precious surfaces of the original painting, I rebuilt their appearance using materials that had lost their function or value. Each object was selected for its colour, shape, texture and ability to reflect light, becoming part of the figure, her clothing and the surrounding ornamentation.
Seen from a distance, the fragments merge into a luminous and recognisable image. Viewed up close, the composition reveals the ordinary objects from which it was constructed. This shift between opulence and obsolescence lies at the centre of the work: what appears precious is made from what was overlooked, discarded or considered no longer useful.
The work explores how value is created through perception and transformation. Its gold is not a symbol of material wealth, but the result of giving neglected matter a new presence.
